Nikola Pijanmanov

Based in Strumica

Nikola Pijanmanov was born 1981 in Strumica, North Macedonia, where he continues to live and work. A visual artist and sculptor whose work spans painting, sculpture, set design, and film. He is also active in theater as a set designer and co-directed the short film Thorn (2022).

Pijanmanov studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje under Professor Rubens Korubin and has exhibited widely locally and internationally, with solo shows in New York, Paris, and Belgrade. He has created several public sculptures, including Tree of Life and Atlas, and participated in residencies such as the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris.

Often exploring transience, spirituality, and the human condition, he anticipates that the 2025 Amalia Gardens Residency, offering encounters with both the local people and the landscapes of Andros, will align with his artistic practice and echo the themes already pulsing through his work.
